Why would they release a site that works like crap!
For the client it's like buying a brand new car only to receive a lemon!
Poor kids are going to flip when they select bearings for decks, lolz!

Awesome, what a responsive board I just built!
My only board choice was grip tape, which I then chose to cover in grip tape when I got to that category. Everything else worked just fine, but it seems like I'll be riding a noodle.

hahaha

I've noticed they did what Fantasy Interactive did years ago and used the Deep Linking method for the company site.
If they can do that why can't they build a simple deck builder app?
- ornj0
Doesn't have a working system in place to catch you clicking around like a retard. If you click one option then click another before it finishes loading you can get the section out of sync with the menu.
First it wouldn't show me the decks, then I clicked grip tape and went right back to decks again and I have the jack russel terrier arrow bouncing around on the decks but I'm looking at shorty's grip tape.

I just got the same problem! A griptape for a deck mounted on 2 trucks, some wheels and covered with of course, more grip tape!
Great deck builder guys!
I emailed Surfride. NT is helping lend a hand to kill some bugs!

Must have been done the same night as the tattoo.

Oh come on..
is not THAT bad..
props to 2A for not adding a spaceship on this one.the site looks ok, no need to destroy it like that just becuase it's 2A. Coulded been a LOT worst...
in fact there are some people here that post their own sites all the time, over on over, and they effin sucks ass, but on their own mind they think is the greatest thing ever designed, music videos featuring a printer as a main subject, oh man.. and no one says anything. At least this site has some design in it.
- Wonker0
It has alot of drop shadows and ugly bevels, and a broken ass board builder that doesn't even work!
Great site!

design criticism aside, it worked fine on my compter.

this site took forever to go live! In the end, i'm not sure that it was worth the $65K they spent to get it done.
Sorry, it's a failure in my book.......too bad for Surfride, the guys there are pretty cool and all they wanted was a good site with a solid back-end solution.
Oh well.

anyone spot the clue in the urls ?
cPath anything means this is a mangled/hacked front-end for zen cart/oscommerce..
As someone who has lost sleep over trying to follow threads thru oscomm. they have a grudging respect from me, lol.. Its simple to make simple amends to the stadard interface, but to actually bolt on some custom menu items, create custom pages etc means you really have to learn how the whole thing works. Being open source, and added onto bit by bit over a long time means it's one of the spaghettiest bundles of code you could ever happen upon..
I reckon said board company has had the oscomm. set up for a while, and have gone to 2A, said 'we want a full e-comm site', got major sticker-shock, at which point 2A have said 'well, we can do you a nice front-end for your current setup', and the deal has been struck.
Im so over bashing 2A, there's no such thing as accidental success.. They have a look, however populist or long-lived it may be, and they do it very well, pretty much nailing every site they do. Considering Eric has gone from just him to a team of a couple of dozen now, I think it is, and has managed to steer the operation in the direction he wanted, kept on top of staff, growth and production to produce a consistent stream of product, with clients beating down the doors with their checkbooks, Im not going to blatently criticize their approach.. If they came to me, and lets be honest, 99% of NT, to you too, with nice chuncks of freelance work, to be completed in a 2A style, we'd all take them up on their offer.
[/somewhat pro 2A rant]

I had a feeling they made this. WOW @ $65k. For osCommerce, I can understand tho. Its file structure alone is like staring into a Dhali painting of hell.
- ********0
bugger. I've knocked out pimped out versions of oscomm for like 3k. And the client was a total pain the the ass.
Just goes to show you.
- fate_0
btw when I said I could tell they made it, it's because the design is their usual crap.

aw shit, guys - I semi-bigup 2A, then I stumble into:
What's In My Cart? on the cart page !!??
Jeez, just change it to anything other than that... 'Cart Contents' will do, dont just leave the wackingly out of proportion H1 default page title in there when you've spent so long on that Flash cart...I was really digging it up to that point.. :/
- akoni0
getting old...but to take one last swipe...ive seen them charge a ton for having cart items emailed from a user to a client, instead of posting to a db for records..
k back to happy thoughts
