Wondering if anyone knows if there are any simialr tools for the PC, I had a quick look and couldn't find any.
Thanks.

meh, I've always felt that the actual value value for the 'golden ratio/mean/wer' is slightly subjective and, more so, dependant on medium.
For instance, how does an exact G.R. dictate colour or information density? Navigation Hierachies? Above/Below Line consistency?
I love the GR and have found it a valuable tool, but I don't think it's worthwhile getting caught up in the exactness of proportionality for what is essentially a nebulous concept. In my mind, at least, the GR is on a bar with 60/40 and 80/20 rules - it's merely the assertion that 'there is a non-arbitrary weighting within this document'.
Quite what that weighting should be is.. in your eyes.
Imo, anyway.
(of course, if you're wanting to portray exacting Greek ideas, then use the ratio)

er, and so, in answer to your question.. I'd just dig out the calculator and work out my own 'golden' logic/ratio every time I want to apply the system to each new medium...

talk about taking the fun out of design. this is a crutch. you should be able to achieve what this offers by practice.

Good point,
I am a self taught graphic designer and I suppose its good to learn about these things and then decide wether or not is suitable for the particular medium.

build your own with guide lines if you you want another option...might be able to find some different ratio combos etc

I have also a small golden section SW project. I haven't had time to finish the tool, but you can find the beta at my website.

Not all that useful as a real layout tool, because it does not fit into the normal design workflow very well yet. Anyways try it out and if I get some responses I might make release 0.9 some day. Best way to use it is to create an SVG with all your main elements and finish the design of in Illustrator.
