if you are denying that global warming actually exists just because of this seasons lack hurricane frequency [so far], you're sadly mistaken.
this earth is hotter than ever before. its because of us. if i were you, i'd be making movements to do what you can to reduce, reuse, and recycle... a bike is better than a car. give a hoot... don't pollute... [ha].

I haven't been on here in 3 months, its nice to know that garett is still a dilusional asshat.
- version30
i thought we all decided garett_west was the self-important ego massaging alter ego of a resident nt'er who routinely resorts to knee jerk reactionary tactics for the entertainment of himself and the others keen to his ploy?
- designaked0
I guess we decided that while I was off NT.
Either way garett is a douche.
I would love to watch a homeless dude take a massive dump in garett's mouth and then make him swallow it.

holy christ designaked, that actually made me throw up a little in my mouth.
dumping on a guys chest is one thing, but in a man's mouth?!? too far.

(Jul 7 06, 10:06)Would that be a firm one or a spray?

It seems to me that the way our country is split, the christian right has no concern about any of these topics because of the apocolyptic nature at the core of thier beliefs. The rapture will come and all the sinners will be left on earth to burn for eternity - so if that is truly in the back of thier minds, why would they care what happens to the climate regions shifting, or the ice caps melting?
- mrdobolina0
not really, spendogg. I think it more shows that their true allegiance is to the dollar and nothing else.
- spendogg0
agreed dobs - I just get twitchy when I think about religous cores and how things are not likely to change.
- Jaline0
I hope the devil sees some potential in me and doesn't make me suffer too much then ;)
- flagellum0
surprisingly, there is a kernel of truth to what spendogg says. [Though I would challenge the loaded rhetoric like "The Christian Right" because there is no such compartmentalization in reality.] Anyway, it is true that Christians view this world as temporal. The Bible teaches that there will ultimately be a cleansing and restoration of the earth to it's pre-Fall state. This is not our final home, as it currently is.
However, the Bible also teaches that we are to be good stewards over creation and treat this world with respect while we are here, as it testifies to the majesty of it's creator.
So, there certainly is no Biblical justification for trashing the planet. Quite the contrary. If anything, Christians should set an example of nurturing creation in this regard.
There is also the scientific perspective: Entropy, the law of conservation of energy, etc... Things are always going to move towards breakdown and decay.

and my next car will be a hybrid.

"Things are always going to move towards breakdown and decay."
So, basically it's your gut feeling that we live in a world of shit and there's nothing we can do about it?
I find that a general miasma among many xtrians today..generally why I like progressive people better, actually think they can make the world better place without anything to do with a dead philospher nailed to a piece of wood two millenia ago...
And by the way, the whole entropy thing refers to closed systems. Last time I checked the universe is an open system...
- flagellum0
TheBlueOne:
First, you took my one statement and ignored the rest of what I said. Bad scholarship. And not intellectually honest of you.
I don't know what you mean by "progressive" people. For me this means "backwards" people in many ways. I don't buy into left-wing rhetoric very easily.
I don't know of any dead philosophers nailed to wood. I'm more interested in risen saviors who architected the world we live in to begin with.
The open-closed systems canard has long been put to rest. Our relationship to our sun constitutes a closed system. Depending on where you move the goalposts in the issue. You can learn about it here:

yikes... whether or not GW is happening as scientists say it is (I'm skeptical myself... given that these 'changing trends' ya'll speak of have ONLY BEEN RECORDED FOR A LIL OVER A 100 YEARS)...
... and even then they 'say' there's a 1 degree jump in the earth's average surface temp...
okay... fine...
... so... recycle... clean up... lower emissions (or get rid of them)...
i'm for it... but 100 years of data for a globe that's been 'hanging in space' for 'millions' of years...
... there's not 'enough' data... but that doesn't mean we go on destroying shit either...
... just lay of the science rhetoric... i hate to say it... but even though garret's being his usual dipshit self...he's got a point. If you look at the Hurricane season thus far... and HAVE LISTENED to alllll the lefty yapping global warming and all the devestating hurricanes we're going to have this year (and of course... 'they' find a way to blame it on Bush too) etc etc...
... and yet - the season has been quiet.
Of course that all can change.
- k0na_an0k0
i'm so worried about global warming i don't even piss in the ocean anymore.
- Mimio0
Pony there's no accouting for opinions and impressions regarding science. People either accept it or invent their own counter-reasoning. Think about it, there's people walking the earth today, dressed like normal humans, appearing to be mentally healthy but still don't accept the mountains of evidence showing the last ice age ended 10,000 years ago. In fact, they think the Earth is 6,000 years old. "Yikes!" to that.
- mrdobolina0
So basically ponyboy, we should be doing more about conservation and pollution and the burning of fossil fuels, but not because of liberals.
Whatever.
