And GRAMME! Quiznos right under you? What do you eat there that won't make you sick and is somewhat healthy? I'm really liking these new flatbread salads...are they good for you?

(Jun 19 06, 11:49)They have a few sammiches that won't clog the arteries. I get the bourbon chicken on wheat. It doesn't have cheese, and the sauce is basically a souped-up BBQ that's prolly fat free.

it's also helpful to bring healthy snacks to work so you are not starving when you get to lunch or dinner - i always order the unhealthiest food when i am starving

doesn't quiznos still have those salads with meat on top? those are prety decent for you, as long as you don't load up on dressing.
another thing to keep in mind, alway schoose whole grain bread/tortillas over white. this includes rye and pumpernickel bread :)

yes, beans are straight up carbs tara.
- barbtastic0
yah, but beans are a good carb... fiber!!
- CincodeMayo0
And beans are good for your heart!
Thanks for the links Barb. Good stuff there. I actually just had one of those Quiznos flatbread salads...read an article on it before I left and they're about 500 cals. Not too bad for a hearty lunch. And I didn't finish it all, so lets say that's about 450.

no, the salad i was talking about did not include bread. maybe they replaced it with the flatbread thing.

this is fantastic that your lunch turned into a full on project.
barb, send him an invoice.
- CincodeMayo0
Please do...send your invoice over and make sure it says Attn: Point5

no charge... i already practice these things so i can hold on to the hotness.
ok... it's also so i can snort and drink with guaranteed speedy recovery.

fast food is disgusting.
i'd rather prepare the food and pack my own lunch, because if anybody is going to "special sauce" my lunch, it's gonna be me.
and i always feel a little sluggish after lunching on a supersized happy meal anyway, best to stay productive.
- tikal2k0
of course, there are always options.
if you wanna "dine out" because that's what your co-workers do, just ask them where they go and carpool together. it's good for morale and hey, you might learn something interesting about them over lunch.

if you wanna just leave the office so you can check out the lunchtime social scene, just pack a couple sandwiches and hit the beach or the local park.

Fast food doesn't sit well with me either. I feel really weird after eating it, depending on how much fat is in it. I can't eat very much anyway, so eating a meal at McDonald's is like poisoning myself. No need to do it more than once every 2-3 weeks.

as for me, i like to take an hour the night before to plop some rice in the cooker (NT ricebowl crew, haha), fry up a couple steaks (easier than grilling) and steam some vegetables.
i actually like eating at my desk, it beats looking for a picnic table at the park.
