I'm sure he didn't mean that.. just bad timing... and again in the grand scheme of things it could be worse

(Jun 14 06, 07:48)I wonder if soda was talking about the same thing?

All my tax return money went towards paying my tuition :(

In the great scheme of things, 14k ain't the end of the world...
and if you put it into context monitarily (is that a word)... you wouldn't even be able to buy a reasonable car with that...
Just did my tax return (4 months late! eek!) and they owe me 9 pounds :) Don't know why I leave it so long now!

what I can't believe is jokingly likening your self-created situation to TF's

[I just found out i owe over $14k in taxes. Can i declare bankruptcy and not pay my taxes?]
See this is what happens when you spend all your time on NT.
Ha, only kidding mate, i'd declare myself bankrupt. You wont get any credit for 3 years (well that's in the UK anyway), but it's better than paying that 14 grand back.

sounds like you still need to get a proper accountant on to this...
you said earlier you 'avoided tax', but 'tax avoidance' refers to finding ways not to pay tax you dont have to, not to be confused with 'tax evasion' or just 'forgetting it existed'...

i don't know about canada. but in the states, u can put money into pension plan and that'll reduce that taxable income.

get of the crack! that should free up some xtra cash.
one year I moved across country and took a 3 month vaca on the money I was saving for freelance taxes. You don't know how little or how fast 6 grand is/goes.
I avoided payment for almost 2 years and ended up owing almost as much in penalties.
now I pay quarterly
