So it's been a while but I've been quite busy with the real world, graduating college, etc. Anyway, I just finished my portfolio and thought I'd put it up here and see what you guys thought.
Anyway, take a look, give me your thoughts, and maybe some crit on it.

i "skipped" the non-existent intro and it took me to the non-existent portfolio.

big & slow flash with popups
so what size is your monitor? I see you designed it for that.
where'd you go to school again?
- _salisae_0
may i ask what type of crit you're looking for exactly?
- version30
so i watched the intro, you need a skip intro during the intro
microgramma does not fit with your elements which barely fit with themselves and your color choices
try again?

Could you 'initiate startup sequence' a little faster maybe?

i couldnt even get past digital without my soup getting cold.

no, in all honesty all I can say is simplify, use a grid, clean up the colors and dont use popups to show work.
and i think if you lost the paint drips, the crest, and the floro-colors and went with something cleaner you will end up with a stonger site.

it's a start.
- your background color and images don't match what is going on in the window. pick one scheme and run with it.
- i don't like how your two drips at the bottom cut off, and how the circle in the upper right is cut off as well. bump up the size of the background image and at least finish those two elements off.
- there really is no need to use a pop-up window when you have an all flash site. i've done it a few times before but really... i was just being lazy. you can definitely work in a cool way to showcase the work inside the movie.
- work on your grid
on some positive notes
- the way you chose to list all of your work i think was working well.
- i like the color scheme of your background image. i would use that throughout the site.
- the background image is cool. a bit overdone (the drips) but interesting
keep pushing. take care.

also:
your home button shouldn't be in the lower right hand corner. it's hard to find and not good for a user interface.
the background is quite playful, i think you font choice should loosen up a bit. it's too techy. try somethign a bit looser.
insead of the dark grey behind your portfolio box try dropping a deep blue to match the background. take your background color and go deeper and darker. the gray looks a bit off. the headline text could use the pink or light blue, the rollovers could be a pink rollover.
keep pushing. it has potential.
oh, also, when you roll over a link in your portfolio... the text on the left should read "Click link to view" not "Click to view" the first time I tried to see your work I moved off the link and over to the left.
peace.

HelixDnB,
You see other sites, you like some and don't like others right?
What do you think of your site?

uhhhh...
it probably took a lot of work to make, which is a plus. shows initiative.
however, it loads really slow. i hit 'skip intro' and was brought into an intro. however, if that isn't the intro i was meant to skip, then you gotta get rid of that (the digital and abstract part). it really brings nothing to your portfolio.
i think if you simplified it, as said before, it would really strengthen your portfolio. the bells and whistles take away from your work.
also, aint nothing wrong with using some trendy imagery every now and then. but, dont use them all at once (eg: crest, paint drips, flourishes, the color pink, etc).
keep working at it, buddy. youll nail it sooner rather than later.

Thanks for the responses so far. I've switched the "skip intro" part after hearing enough people mention that. It goes past the "loading sequence" now right to the start.
Thanks for the ideas for the colors as well - I'm going to see what I can do with that.
Re: the digital abstract thing, Digital abstract is the theme and my "style" of work - taking abstract ideas and applying them to a digital medium.
Keep it coming - it's good to get some honest feedback for a change.

the poppups dont bother me, funny enough. the digital abstract thing is a bit dated in my opinion, however if you're going for that look, you have change your typography—the skinny rounded type signifies beauty products. type in the work also does not feel right. I agree with what somebody else said about a grid, nothing lines up. also, the site doesn't need to be flash. you already have pages changing, so there's no point. you also need to get rid of the intro, it doesn't work at all. the background seems like fluff, what is it's purpose?

Getting through that intro was unbearable. There was no reason for it either. The text kerning was jerking around as an effect? I don't get it.
Also on the first page the content moves all over with the resize. It is on top of each other at some sizes.

I just had a seizure... thanks.

//Way to incorporate both paint drips and an animal coat of arms symbol. Thought it couldn't be done.

Have to question why flash has been used.
