Hey fellas, moving to NYC at the end of summer with the girl, and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on neighborhoods to check out.
We're not completely familiar with all of the areas, but we're sort of looking around the Park Slope area of Brooklyn. We're trying to find more of a low key, family oriented area... something more up and coming so if anyone is in the know, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as we're here checking things out this weekend.
Thanks :)

Look into Astoria and Queens section. As I hear it, that's the real "up and coming" place. Park Slope and the rest of hipster Brooklyn areas have become very populated and cost prohibitive.
But be prepared to pay LOTS of money.Don't rule out places like Yonkers. I live there. 25 minutes from Grand Central and soooo much less than NYC rents and cost of living.
Good Luck!

Just watch out for the giant water bugs in Astoria : ) but i guess thats all over nyc ?

I have zero bugs. Astoria, Brooklyn, Queens is a big place. You have the shitholes, and you have the beautiful areas.
