someone designed this flyer in photoshop, and i need to make a mechanical out of it. in lieu of redoing all of my type in indesign, can i make a psd of just the type in my photoshop document and drag that into the indesign mechanical? it displays properly this way, but does it retain the vector information?

copy/paste works 99% of the time for me, and I do it all day long

photoshop is not a page layout program .. it doesn't hold the integrity of the font in printing. you'll have to reset it.

If the photoshop document is 300 dpi and at 100%, then it will hold but it's not ideal. It won't be as smooth as retyping it in indesign.

fuuuuck
and this copy/paste thing only copies the text data, not color or size or font
this sucks

my boss freaks if i copy'n'paste from Illustrator to InDesign.
best bet is to reset.

If you are using CS2 then you should be able to save a .pdf out of photoshop that retains the fonts vector data. You can then place into Indesign. You may be able to even place a layered photoshop file that retains vector font data. Not 100% sure on that, but give it a shot.

well slap my knee that's super ..
maybe a little too late for poor scarabin though.

be sure to make sure your text does not convert to rich black text...your printer will kill you.
Sounds like a better idea to redo the text though.

i ended up just redoing the entire thing in indesign...
total pain in the ass...
got a few hours of overtime though
