when in indesign, how do you turn off the text wrap?
i have a text area and sometimes it kicks a word to the next line when i know it will fit in the line above it.
this question is probably so simple, but i can't figure it out.
anyone?

modify the setting with that pallet

I think you are referring to the paragraph composer rules. The default is set to Adobe Paragraph Composer, and this allows Indesign to control the line rag for you. You can switch this to Adobe Single Line Composer by clicking on the dropdown menu (arrow circle) in the Paragraph Palette. Then it will allow you to control the rag yourself.

Oh you can also set this in your paragraph styles, if you use them (which you should!).

You can kill the wrap entirely or kill it for a specific object.
if you're trying to do it for a text box (and you're using a mac):
within the text box hit CMD + B and it'll be the last tick box on the bottom.if you're trying to do it for an object:
select the object and hit CMD + W. that'll take you to the menu and from there it's pretty self explanitory.
