What is the best way to build a Content Management System in a all FLASH website? Client wants to be able to edit the site, for example, they have a project section, they want to be able to add/delete new projects. Can there be an interface tat allows them to easily do this?
Thanks in advance!

the way i do it is have the flash interface then a backend system that inserts, updates and deletes database information
the flash interface pulls the records from the database and displays them
easy stuff

Enter response:I've always been looking for something solid myself. I guess a lot of people use cutenews for php and then chop it up and make it work with flash... You need a lot of code knowledge for that... I heard Flash Blocks was horrible...
I am interested too so BUMPPPP

flasj - flash comm server - flash (but $$$)
or
flash- php/asp -> mysql.mssql- > back to flash
or flash -> amfphp -> mysql -> flash

Hey kin man know any good tuts for databases and flash?
- UndoUndo0
http://www.kirupa.com - loads there
- JoshClancy0
It seems like sooo much extra coding just to get it to even communicate with a database... is there any software or components for flash to speed this up that anyone has ever used?
thanks!

it only seems that way, once you get into it its not too bad
- JoshClancy0
Nice! I will give it a go soon. Have you had any experience with a falsh comm server at all?
- UndoUndo0
no its too expensive, amfphp is similar (datatypes like arrays are kept whilst communicating) check it out
www.amfphp.net or .com
good luck

I found this one Flash component that can do the CMS sort of:
http://www.flashloaded.com/flash…
But don't know if people have used this before successfully.

i would bet the best way to do this would be to export xml to flash. this can be admin'ed with php/mysql of course.

I've seen a website that has that FCMS and it seemed really buggy.
It could have been on the person who isntalled its side... but yeah I would be interested to know who has used that.

not sure if someone posted this already:
some decent stuff on there. it seems like a lot of shit at first but once you get going its pretty easy
amf is really cool .. takes a bit longer to setup / get used to but once you do its really good....great for passing complex data structures back to flash
you can still get the job done pretty sweet with good old loadVars and a well written php script

kinetic - Is your site now, built all with a CMS system?
- ozhanlion0
I say start basic, go with old loadVars stuff, there is no need for AMFPHP for now if you are not dealing with sockets and shit.
you can later improve your skills when you get comfortable with pulling and pushing back and forth.

yeah, there are quite a few CMS's out there. I've found the best way is to use some kind of xml structure. I mean it depends on the structure of your site but at least with xml you can structure the content in some meaningful way.
get a good news or blog system tehn hack it up and use flash to load the content in.

I'm currently working on this as a school project: http://www.mosesbylooby.com/
It's a xml editor for just this, using xmls as a flash backend...it's not done yet, but might be interesting soon ;)

my current site uses no cms ... that site is so old school. i think i made it in 2002 ... man i need to update ;)
i did the front end / backend stuff for this site: www.crobar.com // pretty much everything you see on that site is updatable via a cms that i built
xml and flash is a good way to go as well. if you could find a system that wrote out xml for you, you could just pull the xml data into flash ... might save you some time as you wouldn't have to learn the php / mysql shit so much
