Long plane flights

What's the longest flight you've ever taken? Take any drugs to sleep most of the way? Get bored? ipod run out of juice?
As I've told some of you, I'm going to Tokyo in July, as in Chicago - Tokyo, 13 hour nonstop flight...
kind of feel like a kid - totally new experience and really anxious, wondering if when it's all said and done I'll be like "wow, that was a long time on a plane."
Any stories?

India 9 hrs there no drugs just a few drinks - awful
return flight - 2 valiums from the local chemist for 50p slept like a baby

vicadin and gin tend to see me right.
failing prescription drugs, bag yourself some melatonin. just ensure that you wake up often enough to chug a litre of water once every couple of hours.

12-13 hours to Bankok from Iceland, sedation/red wine...fell asleep before take off and woke up 22 mins before landing.

13+ hrs
take a big bottle of water. and a book/headphones, nothing worse than getting stuck to a life-story loser. I never take anything to help sleep and I never drink on the plane. (well sometimes I have a glass of wine with a meal.) Take snacks too. They will have a nice selection of hollywood shite on the seat in front of you.

london - japan, non-stop, 12hrs, but i got steak and red wine and the cabin crew girls were very very pretty!

A few summers ago I took a bus to Winnipeg with my entire family. It was a pretty funny, as there were 7 of us and the trip was about 35 hours long.

how is London to japan 12 hours, when it's 13 hours from the middle of the US, across the ocean and across europe and asia?
I was a bit surprised that the flight pattern is that direction, because it seems like west would be a shorter distance.

Out of curiosity I looked up the price of a first-class ticket on my flight...
starting at $10K and up to $16K.
GoodGod.
And I thought my $1250 economy ticket was expensive.

i suggest you get adult size ear plugs from your local drug store, the package to look for is the ones in a semi-blueish package. get a few pairs going and comming back.
get a hero or 2 or what ever cold cuts you like with all the ttoppings, a long flight you dont get food as often as you would want unless you travel first or business class..so bring munchies and whatever food you want.
bring movies or cartoons and music and get great pair of head phones [the kinds that cover your ear] so you can block out all sounds in the plane.
i suggest either a game boy or a PSP for fun and books or magazines.
bring socks or sweat pants so you will be comfortable enough as the flight is way long yyou will want to as comfortable as possible.
also a change of clothes and tooth brush so when you land you can refresh.
the trip from narita to tokyo is about 2 hours maybe more give or take so be prepared to stretch out before you get there.
a digital cameera is the most key for girls and stuff!!

San Francisco -> Singapore and
New York -> Moscow 18? HrsLong flight, cause I had the trotts from eating something in Moscow that I wasn't supposed to eat.
...and didn't get the aisle seat...
No drugs, but melatonin helps your body to catch up the day/night cycle. Bring snacks, book, distractions, etc. The plane usually has in seat movies, games, music, entertainment.
Still, it's a looong haul.
Get one of those neck pillows.

the price of the ticket you found is probably for that day...try check it in a later date...ave ticket for business class is $2500+
from nyc to japan is 15hours or 18hours depending on routte traveled.
