khilled: I'm not sure you saw this so I will paste it here.
I work for a telcom operator and we have been involved with DVB-H/3G-video services development on S60 platform. It seems that short clips are optimal content for mobile use. However all current events will work. Sports highlights and such are great even on a small screen. One things to remember is that the brand recognition is very important due to the fact that people do not want to waste their time with mobile phones.
One thing to add is if I was free to choose a genre for my own private venture I would most definately go for adult entertainment. Easy money.
I really don't know too much about creating interactive services in phones. I know Nokia is working hard on browser-based platform. Consequently I would stay clear of Flash and go for SVG. Symbian and Java coding is just too much of hazzle so SVG will help.

do you think mobile will change content again like the internet did or do you think it'll just be an extention of the same thing?

It's gonna be huge. Our company is in the process of cutting several deals to get us in on creating content.

My understanding is that it is unlikely that a whole new industry will be born just for mobile content. It is maybe good to say that I'm talking video services perspective, because that is really all I know. There might be a few lucky entrepreneurs cashing-in with formats that catch on, but most revenue will be generated by re-purposing content. Of course recycling will be easier if the whole program concept has been designed to include a mobile dimension. It is tremendously hard to do drama or anything considered creative content wise. I'm not saying it is not possible, but it seems the most of the successful ones are currently riding some kind of technological gimmick. Tech is used to get the publicity needed, but to capture main stream public strong brands need to enter the arena. At least here in northern Europe it does not seem like the golden era or the primetime for mobile video content has really started yet. So as harlequino said there is enormous chances, but it is important to remember you will be competing with books, newspapers and other usability wise superior media that does not need batteries.

"The panelists agreed that while most new TV programs would do well to incorporate an (mobile) interactive component, not all content translates to every platform. Galipeau said sports, sex and user-generated material are generating the most looks. Khanna said he would add music-related content to that list - thanks to MTV and MuchMusic."

"Jump now, think later, pray," he said. "This is a time for innovators. We must try to define the market instead of follow it."

Coolest mobile app:
"Channels by Nokia" is only available in Finnish, but it is really nice interface for reading news from co-operating sites.
