well I've got a place already lined up to live in Arlington VA. Very cool place and it's just a couple blocks from the metro.
So now i'm just on the job hunt. I've been looking for senior design job and I've had a few bites but so far nothing really serious yet.
Actually here's a basic question. What's the pay range for a senior design in DC? I've done some looking and it seems to be in the 50 and 60k range. Is that right? Seems like you would need to make more to live there. I had no idea of the cost of live in DC until I went apartment hunting. Man, i'm just glad i'm not moving to NY. Think my head would expode. lol

i've usually lurk around aigadc.org and adcmw.org to see who is doing what. you will see some repeat offenders in the sponsor sections for design-in-kind contributions and such.
good luck + welcome to the neighborhood.

arlington is cool. i like in the city more, but there are some really great things in alexandria. quick ride in as well.
aigadc and adc are two good places to look- i think i sent those to you btu don't remember.
50-60 seems about right moving here. you can definitly make more once groups see your skills, drive, etc. but that is good to count on. it is expensive coming from SC i am sure, but not neerly like NYC. be prepared to spend money on eating though... only because there are so many awesome restaurants you will get addicted to!! : )
DC rules- i love it there.
erin01- you in NOVA?
- erin010
yep, alexandria, near old town.
arlington is cute, its the new urban suburban.

I'm actually in the same boat as you Clear, moving to DC in August.
I can tell you the coolest shops I've found so far are the following:
Design Army (downtown DC):
http://www.designarmy.com/flash/…Vitamin (Baltimore- could commute if you lived in MD):
http://www.vitamininc.net/Hirshorn Zuckerman (rockville, md):
http://www.hzdg.com/It looks like I might be staying on remotely at the job already have, but I'd love to hear about any cool design/animation shops you might have come across in the DC Metro area.

I was born and raised here in DC area. Live in Reston near Dulles Airport.
Do you want an agency job?
I could probably hook you up with my old company, they do primarily medical related stuff. I believe they are hiring. But it is in Reston, which is an against traffic drive for you.
- madirish0
AOL is also looking for some well-seasoned designers as well. let me know.
design army is dope! and is an NTer as well. :) *big* fan for several years.
dulles could be tollerable from Alexandria, but most likely it would still suck ass. the beltway commute is hell any way you slice it.

isn't there someone from vitamin here on NT? they do nice work as well.
johndiggity should chime in here as well for the scoop on b-town...
- gramme0
I used to work here in B'more:
another good shop in Baltihood:

slinky, what kind of drive is it to Reston if I'm right off of 66 in Arlington? If you don't mind can I get you send some contact info on your old company?
- johndiggity0
feel free to email me if you want the dirt about bmore shops.
- Clear0
how far of a commute is bmore from DC? Off hand that doesn't sound like a fun drive to do every morning..
- johndiggity0
it's about 45 minutes with light traffic, and luckily most of the traffic is going the other way. but the pay is better in dc and the cos tof living is also higher so i don't know why anyone would do it.
