Anyone on here go ?
Or know when their Degree Show is this year ?
- Dancer0
I used to go there.
- Nairn0
Me too. Can't recall when the shows are on though.
Great University. Well, it accepted me, so it MUST be good.
- delilah0

(bottom story)
- MrMackem0
Thats just for the fashion.
What dept. do you work in then ?
- ribit0
Transportation design: opens 13th June, runs one week at Northumbria, followed by an exhibition in Turin at the national car museum from the 27th until the 2nd July.
- MrMackem0
What about the Graphic Design Degree Show ?
- alnove0
I know the Photography show is on from June 5th
- delilah0
i work in the consultancy unit, the centre for design research
if you actually READ the story, you will see that the shows are all on in Squires Building from Wednesday 14th June! ;)
basically you just come in and wander round, they are all on different floors in the respective studios
come and enjoy this old place before we move to our spanky new design school! whenever they get round to finishing it...
- MrMackem0
Read ? Actually read the whole thing ?
Hold on there, i'm a designer, i only colour inside the lines and draw on the walls, i don't read !
Cheers.
PS. Any jobs going ?
And is Ted C still there ?
- delilah0
no jobs in the consultancy, but yes there are jobs in the teaching staff going - they are advertising for senior lecturers in graphic design, motion graphics & animation and multimedia:
http://northumbria.ac.uk/sd/cent…
and yes i believe ted is still here.
- MrMackem0
Yeah i saw the ad for the senior lect, doubt i'll be going in for it like.
23 year old ex student, 3 jobs in 2 years (2 in house), has his own beard and hates Freehand.
Ha
- delilah0
i think the beard would probably work in your favour in academia
- MrMackem0
Damn Gillette !
You've ruined my chances !
It had to go, i was being likened to Peter Sutcliffe.
Its more of a heavey / lazy stubble.
Im such a cliche designer, now wheres me TT car keys ?
- Dancer0
Deliah, Weren't you part of FUse Box media or something??
Ted C was the best thing going for that place. George Grey was a star in his own time as well. I feel the quality of work has slipped in the last few years
- MrMackem0
George was a legend. And probably still is. Scared shitless of apple macs like, but his knowledge of type was spot on, and a true gent.
Ted was cool, learnt most of mac usage from the bearded one.
Burdett was canny. And toards the end we had Bush Hollyhead who was unbelieabley talented and was spot on honest with everything that he said and taught us, wish he started earlier.
the others were ok, bar TD.
And Kieth should be given a medal the size of dustbin lid for the amount of work and extra work and advice ad technical abilities he provided.
I miss uni.
Can i go back ?
- Dancer0
I thought keith had left, yeah he was the real students Technician. Knew his shit and was always willing to help. He helped us do all our band t-shirts after hours.
Me and Baguette never saw eye to eye, but I didn't have a huge problem with him and dunno who "Bush Hollyhead" is.
The 3D, Fashion and Transport design are going strong I hear.
- damienw0
Bush Hollyhead is a bit of a legend. I graduated last year and he was one of two really good things the course has going for it. The other being that Steve Burdett has gone (and Janet Dickson)
- Nairn0
Is the transexual dude/tte from the Psychology dept. still there? And why does the nick/name 'Terry Towelling' stick in mind about the design section?
Aaah, the Toon.
* wipes lone tear from cheek
- delilah0
yep, once upon a time i was at fuseboxdesign
- MrMackem0
Terry The Texan Dowling.
What a nonce, he once faked an asthma attack because of a girls perfume. Prick.
