If your client is stupid enough to buy a template and then pay you that amount of money to muck it up then I say you deserve one another. I like to see this evolutionary balance in action where the all the stupids end up together in perfect union.

i didnt even finsh skimming this tread and i am getting a stomach ache.
Sites like Template Monster hurt the industry, dont support them. It just as bad as a soccer mom who designs websites on the side for fun.

sweet site Initiator! is that from template monster?

not a joke at all. Seriously, the client picked out a template and agreed to pay $7,500. They will wire me 50% tomorrow and I will have it done by the weekend.

dudes & dudettes! c'mon.....they are ONLY templates. Not a bad running start for some folks.
Easy enough to "change up" and mark up on the price.

Oh i see, its because your from Germany, your into killing off lage populations of things.
Designers are next on the list, it all makes sense now.
I admit that was a bit much but I have no filter.

if being desperate is being stoopid....well then, stupid is as stupid does.
The client saw a template on Template Monster. It fits with what they wanted (only missing their specific branding). I was chosen to architecht their branding and to implment the website on a hosting provider of my choice (Media Temple).
And if by "muck it up" you mean to give the client what they want then yes! Yes I did muck it up. Mucked it up enough to earn $7,500 in less than 5 hours.
But then I do not need to preach to you about the basics of business and how to make a buck (although that's not what it's all about for me -- it is nice to pay the mortgage in a comfortable state of mind).
Hey, I did like the cyber tribute to your mom!

I think you are just trolling anyway.

Maybe this dude works for the company and is trying to talk the legitimate design community into being more accepting of their services. Kinda of like the 2A hosting troll who was excitied about the free t-shirt that came with it.

Are you talking about your mom?
Sorry. I couldn't resist.
- Initiator0
yeah Casey....that's it....I'm talking about your mom! Yeah.
Nah, i'm talking bout these fags:
- Initiator0
seriously....have you?
- monkeyshine0
oy. well, good luck to you. I don't really think it's sound business, especially in the long term when this really de-values design as a business strategy.
- ldww0
if you are a self respecting designer you should already know the answer to that.
- Initiator0
yeah. Well....ummm....yes! Why, yes I do know!
But, there are clients and potential clients buggin about Template Monster. And, quite frankly the examples which they show me (from TM) are not too shabby for less than $60 US frickin' american dollars!
