Terrible. No, fortunately this is not a trend. It has always happened.
I am still puzzled over the fact why there's just so much of extreme violence in Belgium though.
I have seen this myself when i lived there; there were people being shot dead in clear daylight in the middle of the street (Antwerp)..
and then there's this, which also happened very recently:
