oh hi floridians!
i'm in ft lauderdale here.
why are you people recommending tampa and orlando? miami has a huge south american market and plus, you're in the real part of florida, not the florida that the rest of the US makes fun of.
a ton of awesome agencies are down here and plus, it's great year round!
my experiences with the following cities
orlando: boring. all real estate work. not a lot of great night life. some good agencies, just not like miami. getting expensive to live there.
tampa: just like orlando, but uglier and more real estate work. tons of crappy club production work, if that's your thing (ugh. ybor)
jacksonville: it's alright but it's not south florida heh. pretty cheap to live there if you go out of the city (and swim around parts of duval county)
sarasota: real estateeeeeee. lot of old people. very conservative (design wise) but hey, that art college is there!
hurricanes aren't that bad. you get used to them. i lived through andrew (a cat 5) and through the shitty storms last year and i'm fine. florida building code is super strict post andrew and you won't have to worry about blowing away.
unless you live in tampa, that place is underwater and if a big one hit there, tampa would be screwed.
also, concrete, i can wager you've never been to florida and if you have you probably came here to visit a relative that lives in a suck part of florida.
i'm sure tv (the tv you pay a taxes on) is a reliable source for judging an entire state!
most people i know that have moved here, can't complain. if you find that a place sucks, it's your fault for not making the most out of your surroundings.
good luck man!
