Thinking about relocating from Roanoke, VA. How is jacksonville? expensive, shity, nice?
- moveinspace0
ummmmm not good. Some big agencies there. City is kinda beat up though and constantly smells like coffee and a paper factory. Move to Tampa instead or to save money Orlando. Jacksonville is the cheapest of the 4 big cities in Florida however. I say screw it live on the street in Miami until you meet a supermodel.
p.s. Jacksonville is practically Georgia so enjoy the country bars.

Florida is flat, uncultured and full of fat and mostly old people that drive everywhere, even to a neighbors house. Inspired?
- moveinspace0
yes but it's cheap to live, we have the ocean and no taxes. And I see less and less old people everyday. They must be dying.

hurricanes are a big plus! ++

I don't live in fear. Stuff happens everywhere. Get over it.

I like it down here. Like I said you can live on the beach for a 1,000 a month. The weather is pretty good most of the year. Tons of big business down here and cool galleries. I take the good with the bad. Plus this time of year Florida is jumping.

A. The only cheap living in FL is Jail. Real estate here is totally out of control.
B. Moveinspace, where in FL do you live. I'm in Tampa.
- moveinspace0
over in New Smyrna. Work in Orlando. Tampa has gotten towards Miami prices, but there are still some cheap places to live. Orlando has even gotten pricey. Last 5 years it's gotten expensive here. But wait until you cash in your house. You won't be crying anymore.

I do business in all 4 major cities so I like to live where it is less than a mornings drive to get to all of them.

chaztoo if you live in tampa go see Bradley.

Wow, I would of never thought Jacksonville would of been mentioned on Newstoday haha.
I've lived in Jax all my life, it's pretty boring all there is to do is go to the beach pretty much, thats why I try and travel as much as possible. I guess it's alright though, it's a growing city and I guess getting better, slowly.
What got you thinking about moving here?
- dablammit0
I don't know anything about Jacksonville, but I'm in Tampa and it pretty much sucks. The weather is nice in the winter and spring but it never changes, and you pretty much have to drive to get anywhere. Plus, it's getting to extremely expensive - and it's not worth it.
There are definitely agencies popping up here, but no one here is doing anything groundbreaking.
Anyway, I can't imagine Jacksonville is even as good as Tampa. Don't do it.

I live in Jax and am from Jax and I wouldn't live anywhere else (having lived in NYC, Italy, and traveled much), so I will represent! It is in the up and coming category of cities. Chicago, NYC, or LA it is not, but there is definitely a scene here for young people, and not just at the beaches anymore.
Next weekend is the Jax Film festival for example. http://www.jacksonvillefilmfesti…
Living is cheap (comparitively) and no, we are not just south Georgia. Jacksonville hosted a Super Bowl last year, remember?
Everyone in this industry knows each other and there are few big agencies and lots of little ones. This is one city that sometimes still feels like a town. If that is your thing, then you would like it here. If you need big city type attractions, like top museums, all hours clubs, a crazy downtown scene, then go on to Miami or Atlanta cause Jax is hit or miss for that stuff.

What's up Supes, it's nice to see that another Jax NTer exist!

what's going on? I've been on NT long time but I am just checking in again! now that I am self-employed I don't have as much time to devote.

That's cool, I've actually ran across your site before in the past. Didn't you use to work for Media Jax or something, I think that is where I might have ran across a link to it.
