sometimes i scale down large hi-res images for the web but some seem to lose quality and get alittle blurry, i find the sharp filter works sometimes but usually sucks and the sharpen brush is good but if i have 100 photos to scale down and 1 day to do it the sharpening brush isnt the best option anyone have any times or experience with this?

write actions that meet in the middle with sharpening then fading 32% then unsharp mask fade 50%
experiment with things like that and you will find something that will meet your needs

reduce sizes incrementally
like 1000px wide -> 900 px -> 800 px
and so on

We batch process photos (mainly auto show and design exhibition photos at 3000ish pixels wide) down to the sizes used on our site (1600x1200,640x480, 300xwhatever)... using Image Ready with resize then..
- Autocontrast
- Unsharp Mask (Radius 1, Amount 20)
- Save optimized at JPEG quality 60 (but 70-80 probably better)works fine for us, no noticeable artifacts, not blurry, reasonable size

use unsharp mask, not sharpen.

I have never had that problem, weird..! Maybe one day.
Oh and the Batch function in PS has saved me more than I can remember. One of the best functions in PS IMO.
