it's okay. am with most people here.
instead of having all round great music (aemi,a) - seems Tool these days just play two notes, up and down, with clever timing and drumming.
kinda lost that edge - or that bit in the song you can't wait for.

i have to agree with namanamo, the lyrics are really perfect circley, i wouldn't say the music is tho. that's still tool.
i like the album. but i still don't reckon it's their best. the packaging is awesome, but i think that eventually the novelty will wear off and the lateralus packaging will resume the favourite position.

pitchfork sucks and so does that comparison. i don't see how this is more perfect circle than tool.
i was a little disappointed on first listen, but i'm loving it now, and I agree that it surpasses lateralus (but definitely not aenima). i agree about the drum & bass, I was just telling my friend I'd love to hear an unmixed version of just the drum and the bass.

good album

I was reading a review of this album on pitchfork, and I think they hit the nail on the head... this more of A Perfect Circle album than it is Tool.

I can appreciate your take on this, I'm by no means any kind of trend setting expert, I just like what I like. And actually what I'm liking the most these days is Mogwai's Mr. Beast. Absolutely fucking love it. Highly recommended to anyone put off by 10,000 days.

i'm nuts i guess. i haven't seen the whole packaging (just the cover) so it look like i got way ahead of myself there, but the rest of it is eh.

aenima smokes this album, and by no means was it radio packaged. This coming from a guitarist of 22 years. Yes, it has it moments but nothing extraordinary.

Its actually my favorite of their albums to date. Yes, it has a lot of Lateralus in it but I feel the stepped it up musically. So far the title track is my favorite on the disc. The artwork is like nothing I've seen for music packaging either.
I suppose if you're looking for neat little radio-friendly packages this will leave you disappointed when compared to Aenema for example. But as a drummer/bassist this is rock gold as far as I'm concerned and as a graphic designer their packaging has once again set the bar.

dude, the artwork is disappointing? Are you nuts or just blind?

I always feel tempted to boycott anyone that waits that long between releases.
You too Beastie Boys!!

yeah the whole thing is pretty disappointing, from the music to the artwork to the song titles. i can't believe i waited five years for this.

And for an even more insane listening experience, I recommend the band 'unexpect'.

Rosetta Stoned = only killer track, and even that has grown weary over the past weeks.
