I just spent the day golfing and not working. It was excellent. Oddly enough, even though I was golfing, I feel like I've taken a million stress points off my week.
I shot a 110, 10 strokes better than last time too.
And, I hit one drive 320 yards smack-dab in the middle of the fairway . . . then I triple bogeyed the hole but it was a sweet sweet drive.

i need to give another try

I played yesterday - beautiful day.
I didn't bring any woods, been working on my long irons. My game was short and straight. Shot a 94. Trying to get back into the 80's.

lol, I have a weird game myself.
most of the time I can barely get off the tee. My typical drive is about 225 if I'm lucky.
But, I can hit my 4 iron anywhere: rough, fairway, fairway sand whatever.
AND, I'm a wizard within 50 yards of the green. My 6 iron putt/chip is a thing of beauty.
But, then I can't use my putter worth a damn.
So, I typically triple or quad every hole.
But, like everyone else, if I can hit one really sweet shot out of 1000 then I'm happy and I keep playing.
Today I actually hit several sweet shots, and a couple of really nice 10+ foot putts so it was a great day on the links.
I played Don Valley, just a course owned and operated by the city here in Toronto but it was surprisingly a great course. Very well kept, beautiful fairways and nice fluffy sand. The greens were a little on the rough side and unpredictable but the layout was never boring and somtimes challenging and otherwise easy and rewarding (like the 90 yard 16th) great course, play it if you can . Cheap and fun.
But, overall it was a fucking beautiful day to be golfing and not working.

wheres carver...?

also . . .
Madrish, I can't really comment on golf outside of Canada but I figure it's pretty much the same. As long as you drink while you play and just try to have a good time.
Arthur, a 94 is my annual goal right now. In fact, if I can break 100 this year then I'll be ecstatic. Hell, if I can mangage 2 birdies in one round then I might just call it a succes and never play again.
Well, not really, but to get in the 80's is kickass man.
I read recently that the "typical" golfer shoots in the 110's.
Which is the only reason I find myself watching golf on TV and being amazed.
That and the fact that it's the only sport you can watch hungover on a Sunday afternoon, fall asleep for 2 hours and the wakeup and still know what's going on.
Anyhow, the pros amaze me. As they say: "These guys are good."

I try to get out and hit at least once a week, usually the driving range. Not enough time for a full round these days. too busy. But I think its one of the best stress relievers. at least for me. I don't get too mad about wayward shots.
oh, i shoot around 90 +- 5 my goal for the year is consistant 80's.

you play with carver?

I was shooting in the 80's a few years back..probably back up into the high 90s now...

It's tough to have been better than you currently are. I've been playing since I was 12, played all through high school and then it slowly tailed off from there. For one stretch, I didn't play for almost 4 years.
I'm out there missing shots that I know I used to make in my sleep when I was younger.
The ony part of my golf game that's gotten better with time is my patience. Any day golfing and not working is a great day.

Played 92 today at a golf course here in Quebec today (saturday). Greens were shite, I tripled 2 holes.. god damnit!
Love this game.

Ahh cool thread, sounds fun, I hardly got to play any Golf last year, it dosn't help that none of my friends play. Usually when I go camping in Northern Ontario I find some nice courses to play.
Actually played a nice course called Pipers Glen in Port Elgin, first time playing a links style course and it was quite enjoyable.
Lakeview golf course in Mississauga is about 5 minutes from my house and thats a pretty nice course but I think it is slowly getting more expensive to play!
Would love to get out for a run in the next couple weeks now that school is over.

I played all the time when I was younger, nearly got down to sinlge figures (well 11, close enough). It's weird, I was fanatical about it right up until about 15/16 and now someone would have to fucking pay me to play a round again.

golf hey, didn't think graphic stylists played the game?

i LOVE golf.
i think i love it mostly b/c of the whole "country club" atmosphere...
club sandwiches and an iced tea afterwards in the clubhouse...
polos and khaki shorts...
so delightfully suburban.

I know a shiteload of creatives that play the game
nice work by the way liz...

PonyBoy...
"my lil bro is slowly approaching scratch... he's driving 360+ now too... "
Bollocks...that would place him about 40 yards past the leading driving stat on the PGA Tour...
