I am going to give my vermin chasing dog a mouse to play with. are there any known diseases carried by white feeder mice that a dog can catch?

Go to target and for $10 but a remote control mouse.
Much healthier and you don't have to clean up it's shit or blood after your dog gets done chomping it.

listen man, the dog's 14 yrs old. he only has a few ticks left on the clock. he doesn't play with his toys anymore. I figure I'd get him a real toy. you assholes would do the same thing

a biggish mini shnauzer. they used to use them in trenches to kill rats

I used to have a Rat Terrier. Awesomely vicious dog. Would kill birds somehow and bring them to the doorstep.
She lived to be 16. I think when she got to be about 12 or so she stopped catching birds. I think it bored her more than she was too slow.

i kind of agree w/pluto... the whole 'kill it for amusement' is a little different than feeding a mouse to a snake...
... but I feel fer yer poor ol' poochie too - I do everything I could to keep his spirits up...
