Finally saw it last night...not bad...not amazing. Is it based on fact or fiction? And the Five Points area that is depicted in the movie - where would that be now?

that movie was so boring. leonardo is an amazing actor though, so i dont understand that one.

the scene where daniel day-lewis is sitting in the chair with the american flag over his shoulders talking to leonardo was amazing!

Yo Matt, sick Jordan piece.

Leo's distinguishing feature would be his voice.
Haven't seen many films after he did Titanic (haha), but I heard he's a great actor.

Oh, and I wasn't suggesting Titanic was bad....just that his character annoyed me....always speaking to Rose like she's a child.

Daniel Day-Lewis was the best actor in that movie. awesome performance.

its a shame scorsese didnt get the funding for the ending he wanted. would have made the movie an all-time classic.

Leo + Scorcese is like the next Tom Cruise + Spielberg.
I agree, Daniel Day-Lewis is a great actor.

Bill the Butcher was a real person, but in Gangs he was a composite of several notorious gangsters of the era.
There was a decent NG piece on this movie a few years back, here's the website:
