it should be about the work the employee performs. not race or sex or anything else. But granted, a company want a good work environment too. Which means the employee should be able to fit in and interact. a workplace with tension isn't very fun and not very productive if people just want to leave... know what i'm sayin?

We had this one female coworker who was disgruntled for being demoted for her lousy work. When the new guy came in, all she did was try to manipulate others to get him fired. In the end, the owners saw what happened and fired her.

I worked for a corporation.
