finally got the balance between salaried, freelance, and estimated tax payment right... 300 in the black, yay!

got a refund, but along with it a nice lil letter from the IRS saying i'm being investigated because my boss misfiled some paperwork, vastly overstating my earnings. They'd like $6K in back taxes on money i never made.

Finished my taxes one early Saturday morning, I was getting back $115. First time in a long time I was getting back any money.
A few hours later when I got the mail I got Audited by the IRS for a 1099 I was never sent in 2004. Fuck. $1300 it said I owed.
That's why for this years March madness I spent it at home rather than in Vegas like I have for the past 8 years. Double fuck.
Could have been worse.
A buddy got hit for 15 grand.

I owe. I didn't think I would because of the little t-shirt company I started and all the write-offs I had for it, but I guess I'm filling out my W4s wrong. It's not the freelance work that I owe for, it's my dadgum full-time gig.
I don't owe as much as last year though and I got smart and started saving for it so it will all be out of my life in one check.
This next year should be interesting since I'll be on my own for most of it.
