Does anybody know what CMYK colour the yellow is in the yellow pages? Not sure if it different in the US, I am looking for the UK one if possible though.
Thanks.

its a spot colour, probably just process yellow, no way they would use a mix printing that - too expensive and the thin paper wouldn't handle that.

mixing yellow in cmyk is indeed a little pointless, esp. with such large quantities. def. a spotcolor.

This has nothing to do with your question but the phone book is one of the biggest pieces of waste ever. Well the directory of individual phone numbers anyway. The services section is fine, I guess.
How many times have you actually gone into the phone book to find a persons phone number. Hardly happens. Waste. inefficient.

it's something between 20-30% depending on the directory.
Each will have it's own paper colour. You can find it in the ad specs (should be available on the publishers website)
I've seen 20%, 25% and 30% used.

and what would you suggest in place of this tangible printed object?
a disc that needs a computer and electricity?
an online database that requires a network connection and some digital interface?
sorry, the printed phone book is still a vry viable piece of everyday life and culture, complete with residential listings
