as to most of the responses here, thanks to all for sharing a bit of yourselves. I've been feeling nostalgic for the people that have left and my friends/family who i left 3000 miles away in NY. Its nice to know you're not actually alone sometimes.

my friend jeff (he lives 8 hours away and is married to someone that my wife and i just don't dig)
my sweet granny (no one was sweeter or more dedicated than that sweet lady)
my mom - died 5 years ago of a heart attack while in NYC for the millienium celebration. 55 years old, complete surprise. I've thought about her every day since.
Brian B. - died late last year of unknown causes (i suspect drugs). literally the funniest person i've ever known.
