...is it just me or does it seem as if something is different about the show???

Yes it sucks now.
and next yr when the movies comes out and there'll be countless threads about how much it sucks and some fucks would be going on and on about how Groeing sold out and how they worship the old simpsons and the movie was a bad idea......we'll all have a fucking moment of silence and then after that i'll pull up this thread again and say... I fucking told you so.Best,

Futurama. very good.

Episodes with Lisa as the main story are just plain boring...

they always said that when they make the simpsons movie, the series would end. hopefully that's the case. the show feels like it's written by tv commercial writers.

i think the writers for some of the simspons / futurama epsiodes would make excellent advertising copywriters

I don't know why it's become popular to bash on the Simpsons as of late...
It's still hilarious, and this past season and the one before it are proof.
It's not the same show that came out when you were 5. It's not the same show that was hitting it's prime when you hitting your early teens. And *gasp* it's not the same show when you were hitting your early twenties.
If you don't like the show anymore, don't watch it. And stop saying 'woe is me' every few weeks on another timelined fucking thread.
And for anyone that thinks the Simpsons movie is going to be bad, or whatever ... go back to Shelbyville!

just like qbn... kind of outdated, has been going for a long time, doesn’t have an edge anymore, not relevant... but it’s familiar and I can still get some entertainment out of it

I love the Simpsons, but its become a 30 minute infotainment for kids and young parents these days. Its taken a quiet step towards influencing social agendas ranging from religion, race, gender, and sexual preferences to tackling first world issues of downloading "illegal" Hollywood movies from the internet.

It had an edge when few other shows did. Now every show has an edge and sitcoms are racier than ever and it can't compete.

i think the show has matured pretty well. Deeper social commentary in episodes, in a less in your face approach than southpark. SImpsons and bobs burgers are my sunday special on tv since I just run an antenna.

it's one of those shows where you notice certain writers have left and the tone flips ... conan o'brien used to write episodes and this one guy named john swartzwelder who did some great ones, I still like it but it's too preachy sometimes now and I miss the oddball tangents

Anybody still watching this? i have to say that I've seen a few episodes this year and they were great.
Did a bit of digging and discovered that the last 3 seasons were way better than they've been in years. They're scoring 80% on rotten tomatoes, which isn't close to the 95% that seasons 1-9 received but much better than the 45% that seasons 10-24 got(which i remember being utter shit).
Trying to get the kids into it, wanted to show them the early years when it was amazing, but we stumbled upon some newer episodes and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised.
Not sure if it's their last season but they've definitely kicked it up a notch or two as they ride off into the sunset.
- They're not getting cancelled, their ratings are still really good.zarkonite

I don't kids will appreciate the older ones like many of us do/did. They referenced, so cleverly, elements of pop-culture from our day, not this generation.
- I haven't watched in years, however I watched in early years. How early? Two words: Tracey Ullman.prophetone
- agree but some of the best ones like monorail or last exit to Springfield etc don't rely on pop culture as much, more timeless_niko
- The mid nineties episodes were definitely the best. Vintage Simpson episodes. I can't really watch them over the last 10yrs.Hayzilla
