ABSOLUTELY AND COMPLETELY ROCKS!!!
I've designed about a hundred HTML emails, but up until tonight I've never sent any out. So I got hired by a client to design and send out to her database a bi-weekly email... cool, great money, how would I do it?
Campaign monitor - that's how. (let me preface by saying I have zero affiliation with them) It was the easiest thing I've ever done online (almost, whatever) And it is so thorough with tracking, checking, double checking, cheap as hell.
Looks like I'm going to start pushing this service a lot more with clients... think about it, do a design for about $1k, and send update and send for a few hundred each time. That's sweet.
I love them!

I'm not trying to be a cunt, I'm honestly curious but do you really charge $1k for this kind of thing?

If so, I really have been selling myself short.

its quite a sell-able thing though, directly targeting customers like that. I think you could probably squeeze some good money out of it, depending on your chat and also round sunglasses...

yes, curently I do cahrge about a G for that, between $750 and $1K, although the Panasonic ones on my site are from my full time employment there, not freelance work.
If you think about it on an hourly rate, $1K isn't all that much money at $65 an hour or so.

what do you think about the dvx 100?
- stevegee0
I don't think much about it... I don't know their products, haven't worked there in 2+ years actually.
(freelance to them only now)

(Apr 6 06, 07:20)It takes you 15 hours to make one of those mailshots?
I've worked in email marketing and it really shouldn't be taking that long.
Kudos for getting that sort of money for the work though!

Fair play to you. But at $65 an hour you should only be charging $65. Maybe, at a push, $130.
But if they will pay $1000, well, why the fuck not.
Anyone need some emails done?

I believe he implied it takes that much time to do the first one. Then once the layout and style are all set up its a couple hundy per email after that.
I charge about $150 for an email using campaignMonitor. But the design has been set up and its now basically a template. But I do need to raise my rates. it takes about 3 hours from start to finish.
One thing i need to start doing is a text only version of the email for those getting it via their mobile.
Oh and campaign monitor rocks... san dimas high school football rules!!!!

word... I do a main template for about a G, two inital layouts, 3 revisions, well worth the loot for a client and about 2 hundred to update template, write and customize text only versions, monitor the deliveries, update the database.
It's not so much about the money, it's about the relationship I've built with most of my clients in that they trust my work and trust that the goods are getting delivered, and they look hot too!
