i need to take the mask that is on one layer and apply it to another layer.
it won't drag and drop.
i can see the mask, and i've unlocked it, now how do i get it onto the other layer?
moth's away. he showed me yesterday but i'm rather thick and should probably be shown things more than once before i can keep them in my sieve-head.

you can right click on the mask>'set selection to layer mask' and then apply that selection, as a mask, to another layer ?
not sure about dragging and dropping, I'll have another look...
- kelpie0
also you can 'group layer with previous' if the layers are consecutive...

rnh. i'm still confused.
:(
do you have time to take this to messenger, siiiiiiii?
- kelpie0
can't do messenger, but try my work mail - if you explain exactly what you're trying to do (context), I might be able to help you :)

i'll shoot you a mail the very now.

Command-click (control on windows) the layer mask—now you have a selection. Select the layer you want it applied to and click "add layer mask".

(Mar 30 06, 03:41)same thing really - is this the only way, I don't think I've ever seen a 'drag mask to another layer' function
(the grouping layers things really handy too though, but I don't know what any version higher than 7 does to handle such things)

but where is this magical "add layer mask" button that i click?
when i go
layer > add layer mask
it just has reveal and hide selection options.
:l

read my e-mail - same results, a bit less pissing about...
The other way you're creating a selection of the mask and applying it "reveal selection" to each one...

i was making a joke about kuz being the biggest freeloader of all time.
