ah yes, nothing like a little self promotion, I did it too...
and don't know education by learning it from others...
I make fun of business men who buy a photoshop book so they can save themselves a few dollars...
remember content will only get you so far, if something isn't eye appealing, or in a properly designed placement then or even legibility, then the reader will just overlook it. Honestly, i did. It's not that I want to knock what the content is trying to portray, but like most readers, it just isn't enticing. Designers are here to catch your eye, and make you look....elementary lessons really...

i can prove you wrong on that...if i was a hot woman i could turn your head....and if that hot woman was on an ad for something, then im sure it will still turn your head.
and a designer doesn't necessarily need marketing, i believe its good if they understand the concepts of it, but you don't necessarily need the full education of it. As long as it can make you less ignorant to the elements of marketing, just like a business person should be less ignorant to what a designer does.

speaking out of context man, there are tons of people doing the same thing... myself and another designer designed a clothing line together...from the site, to the clothes to handling the business aspects of it....
another friend started software company...he generated the software with his partner, they created the website, and they do the marketing and accounting....
that was a bad statement brother. There are millions of examples....aka most businesses

they all adore their instruments, and could have never made the music they did anywhere else
and we did it free
