Straight up FF is taking 40mbs of RAM. after a couple of hours, its 150MB. Yes, that's 150MB of RAM used for browsing the intarweb.
It's getting ridiculous. I don't mind 350MB Ram being used by firefox for a shockwave FPS game, but uhm, yeah it is a little silly.
At the same time I hate using internet explorer.
Don't reply with an opera link.

anyone else have this?

The only problem with FF is flash. Sometimes the flash buttons at NT (such as the 'refresh', 'find', and 'broadcast' ones) don't work and it'll take me restarting the browser for the flash to come up again.
But it's not a big deal.

i always have problems with wmv files in FF. like if i watch something on youtibe, it'll freeze and i have to restart it. but firefox 2.0 will deal with the memory issue as they say.

Safari seems to have a lot more compatability issues than Firefox does.

Firefox used to lose bookmarks on crashes in the old days. Then it stopped. Apparently, they solved it with daily backups. I have plenty of bookmarks.. about 3MB file. One day I discovered a folder called 'bookmarkbackups' with tens of 3MB bookmark copies from the past. They've been sweeping bookmarks under the rug to solve the problem!

exactly, the pinwheel of death.

hi
you visiting alot of flash 8 sites? Lots of people out there are using BitmapData but not cleaning up so your memory usage shoots through the roof....

I think most of the problems i've experienced arise when using OSX.
It will probably be a while before the dev guys get the Mac support to where it should be.
I dunno - you might try these: http://www.furbism.com/firefoxma…

Go to about:config, create a new integer browser.cache.memory.capacity which will limit RAM cache to the specified value (in kilobytes). Restart browser to see its effect. After doing this, the memory usage also seems to drop considerably by minimizing the firefox window...
