I'm going to jump in this fray even though politics is a load of crap. So from what I've read here, people are ignorant for thinking the US went to war for oil, it was to make sure that oil was sold in dollars not Euro's. So the US did go to war for oil and how it is traded. Also a mention of renegged contracts.
What's puzzling is that no one from the White House seems to be able to say that the reason for the war was the renegged contracts. Were they to say that, it would show what dirty money grubbing slime bags Republicans really are. It's big business for rich white men to get richer and richer...

not quite mrdobolina. every country agreed by contract to purchase oil in dollars. they tried breaking the contract they all agreed to.
so we didn't try and control the sale of oil as much as we enforced an agreement. same thing with saddam himself.
