i half-heartedly collect paper money and i've gotta say that the US has always had the best-engraved money in the world. It's true they usually stick some boring old dead politicians up there and seriously lag behind in showing the diversity of the country (and are pretty drab color-wise), but they are frigging beautiful:

the type treartment is gorgeous, same goes for decorations, especially on the older bills. admittedly, our euro-bills do lack a lot of imagination there.

well in currency value it is.
however, the euro bills did not have the chance to mature as a cultural icon yet, as people are still trying to get comfortable with this sudden change.
the legacy of the US dollar is a different story, and most of those bills are very valuable in terms of design and historic value.

i don't know what bill from what country it was, but i have seen a bill once, with an insane amount of copy on it. i believe it was a lisrt of amendments or something. set in insanely small type, hardly visible with the bare eye...
