credit cards companies are the devil.

That's nuts. What are they thinking issuing a card under those circumstances?

Credit cards are fucking terrible.
A wise man one once told me:
"If you can't buy it with cash (ie. with what you currently own, not credit), you can't afford it."
Think about it.

That's always been my philosophy, but I've got two cards and unfortunately had to run 'em up while in school. :(

And... it'll take you 20 (twenty) years to pay of 3k on a credit card if you only pay the minimum each month.
That's a fact.

The other month, MasterCard called and bitched at me for only paying about $50 of my $100 payment when just the month before I paid $600 on it. Dicks.

the problem is, in the U.S., you need to use credit cards to build your credit history. i have 4 cards and use them wisely. it's not bad if you pay full amount each time.
i accumulated enough award points on my card i can fly to europe.

so what, i already live in europe.

i am just saying, credit cards aren't all that bad.
also having a good credit card history means it will be easier for you to get loans and lower interest rates when it comes to buy a house.

I fricken hate chase bank. My latest reason:
I moved in october, changed all my bills including my 2 chase CC accounts (which are closed just paying them off). Around dec. Im about 100$ from finishing paying them off.Feb. I get a call saying I'm 33 days late on a payment. I havn't recieved a bill since dec for one of them so I thought, well maybe I did pay that one off.
Chase changed my billing address to my old address because they have some agreement with the USPS? What? So now its my responsibility to dispute it with the credit agencies and get it corrected. fucking chase. Stay away...

I don't have a credit card at the persuasion of my parents, who've had problems of their own. I think it was a pretty good choice, since I have a habit of buying stuff I don't need. Nowadays I just wait a few days after I want to buy something, and my urge to buy it usually disappears.
Anyway, I almost didn't get a student loan this year because of how much my parents make, but my parents went in to talk to the university and they changed their minds. If they hadn't persuaded the people there, then I would've had to take out a credit thingy at the bank, which is worse than having student debt.

i highly reccommend a paper shredder. i shred all financial documents, call me paranoid but a friend of mine had something stolen from her trash and someone opened up a new credit card in her name.
there is nothing wrong with credit cards if you are responsibe with them. i have two and use them frequiently but pay it off in full every month. its all for the credit history, your credit goes up when you have a goodstanding account for a length of time.
