Does anyone else think that the NoPattern / Chuck Anderson stuff relies heavily (maybe too heavily) on color?

--------------------------------...Just went through most of his portfolio images, and I have to ask: Does anyone else notice how frequently the little bright dots/stars/paint spots type of elements are used?
I'm not criticising it by any means, just wondering if that's a big element of Chuck's work that attracts clients to it.
That design element is in the following:
Less Than Jake images
Men's Health images
Sparrow Guitars images
Supra Footwear
Start Mobile
SVSV
XLR8
Computer Arts
NYLON
Teen People
WYWS
Vapors
Rockpile
Earthlink
The KDU
Bacardi
Absolute
Complex
Work with Electric Heat
--I'm not criticizing - but wondering if it's become a "Nopattern thing" or if you see that element by other designers?
I think it's interesting that it's used by several clients. You'd recognize it after a while.Anyhow, really great work, not sure what all he has collaborated with on Electric Heat, but the stuff there rules.

okay okay, the guy's an artist and not a designer. his art can be used in broadcast design much like that sawed off frenchman who made his way into graphic design. I think his name was stumpy or someting.

about 3 - 4 years ago we bought one of those Digital vision composite DVD's, I think the one that Jens and James [Idiocase] made, I remember they had been using these "flares" for a while. But NP owns this shit now. It's why all the clients are knocking his door down...

nopattern is the new jaline.
- emokid0
not true. nopattern never posts about tv shows.
- mr_snuggles0
true, but he is rumoured to make a guest appearance as himself on an upcoming episode of the OC..

Whats wrong with threads on here that challenge the popular idea? Being positive all the time is boring.
Anyways, I think Chucks stuff looks very nice and its very interested but again I dont understand what the big hoopela is all about. Ive seen stuff like this done years ago, why has CA all of a sudden become the "king" of this kind of design?
By the way Chuck, no disrespect, I like your work a lot, I think you are talented I just like to question things and I hate kissing ass an going along with the popular vote. Most people on here will just say you rock cause you are popular in the design world.
Wow, I question No Pattern and Praystation work in a matter of two days. I have a feeling I wont make any friends around here.

I didn't want to start a fight, I was just feeling lik emaybe I was taste-less. Which if we want to end this now means that I am. Sorry for being taste-less...
dress-up
(Feb 22 06, 09:18)As we all know design is subjective.....especially stuff from No Pattern.....I think its perfectly fine to not vibe with something or not like it.
Let me give you an "NT SAFE" example (at least I hope). I went to one of the top film schools in the country and HATED the movie Trainspotting while everyone else around me would get hard nips just at the mention of the name. Its just my opinion and my take on it.....same as yours with the No Pattern stuff.
P.S. - I kind of agree with you.

his shelf life is getting there. wonder what he'll do after he runs out of this style?
uberdesigner
(Feb 22 06, 09:21)Uber, you can kinda piss me off sometimes because you can be a real ass on NT but at the same time I totally respect the fact that you are always straightforward and say what you think. BTW, that was a compliment....can ya feel the sting?

i should probably take a big steaming shit in this thread as well. it needs it.
