I agree about small type being hard to read.
I like the icon but the bottom line between the feathers is going away. you may want to beef it up a wee bit.
overall i really like it!

I wouldn't hold my breath on mine staying nicer, I haven't show the logo to the client yet and who knows what swooshes and bevels it may end up with

I was thinking it might need more swoosh and bevel...

doesn't everything

you could try an "&" in place of the word "and". would save to characters in length for the "investigations" part hanging out so far.

i don't get the feathers ref- Mercury? god of messages, tricks and deceit?
Frank Perdue? the shield is relevant I guess to security and dividing it helps the weight the two areas of work:security and investigations.
I just don't see the link to feathers
why not fingers?

Designnaked: I just checked out the logo on duffy, and I definately see the similarity, but I think if someone were to flash both logos up they would know they were different companies.
Xenicon: The feathers is really due to a lack of time. I started out with the requirement that I had to keep a sheild in the logo and was going to incorporate an eagle (cliche I know) but it started to look crowded so I broke it down to a wing which I will explain to the client, can symbolize speed, agility, honor, tradition and peace
