Why?
Do you know of anyone that had a virus while running osx?
- joe_fritz0
you don't need one.

one of my friend said to me the another day that macs with intel chip are more likely to receive viruses, is that true? or it's do with operating system?
- mrdobolina0
it's OS.
- PublikStar0
interesting...

Virus run on OS not hardware.
There isn't a single virus for Mac OSX, currently.
Just make sure that you have turned off the option in Safari to auto-open safe files, and turn your built in firewall on, and you're all set.

anybody have that link for that virus that was travelling through iChat?
I'm not a doomsday kind of guy at all, but I can't imagine Macs will remain imune to these problems long term. just a matter of time

There are viruses in AOL IM though.

If you think Mac's are immune then your are very naive. With the power that iTunes has over the mp3/music download industry hackers/virus's will be knocking on your door. Hackers crave publicity and that's where they are gonna find it!!

Dancer,
No system is 100% safe, and yes eventually someone will write a virus for Macs, but there are zero out there now. And people have cracked Apple's DRM, but unless someone cracks into iTunes itself, changes the coding on the music files, and then somehow gets iTunes to distribute the infected files, iTunes ain't going to be a source of viruses.

cruz_azulI guess this is bad if you consider that on a Mac you can choose to download a file, then choose to run the file to install it, thus infecting your mac with a non-existent virus.
When on a PC you can just surf to a website and just by opening a web page get infected with several very nasty viruses.
Yeah, the end is near.
