Can SoundForge do multi-layers so you can blend in different audio tracks, as in add music under a narration? I can't see a way to do it, isn't this basic audio editing software functionality?

I haven't used sound forge in probably 10 years, BUT..
for what I understand, it's not a multi track software...meaning that you might be able to do some sort of paste / merge without having control of the 2 separate tracks..
but then again... it's been 10 years..
:)

yes, but it is give our take the same make as Acid Music. Sony bought them both up from Sonic Foundry.
They probably have some sort of plug-in for mult-track development.

ergo, you're using the wrong software.
- JazX0
kbags is right, that primarily for editing, many if need be mind you, but not for mixing them together. it's more about one at a time thing, much like ReCycle!, etc.
why not use Sony Acid trial?

cant you just do a 'paste mix' *its next to the usual paster button..
Mix 2 together, then another, then another..
I've got great results like this when I've only had Soundforge..

see you have to be more specific, you can do what mitokondria just suggested, but I was thinking you wanted to be able to see the tracks. instead of trying to put them in stereo next to each other.
get me?

Soundforge's ability to Paste to Mix is not nearly as configurable (via a graphic user interface) as say adobe audition (formerly cool edit pro),
use both. sound forge to edit indivitual tracks. and Audition to stack. layer. loop. et al.
i have tried sf's ability, but again, it is very difficult to use the feature. you may have different luck. stnd.

Thanks for all the responses. I see the paste and mix, but yeah I need the multi-layers so I can moves tracks back and forth.
Turns out the SF cannot do what I am looking for, so I used Premiere instead. Not the best solution - but it worked.
Thanks again all!
