(where did my 1st thread go?!)
Thinking about this monitor?
- - Don't!I'm on my 3rd replacement from Dell and have just now given up - I'm going to return it and get the more expensive bloody Apple one instead.
The light bleed has been *awful* on all of them so far, with the one I'm viewing now bleeding light all over the left of the screen = me, fed up.
I guess this model's fine if you're never going to work with screens filled with 90-100% black.
Anyone got any other LCD widescreen recommendations?

hmph, thanks toulouz - Yours is working, and because you ordered it from the US, you probably only paid about fiddy bucks for it?
That makes me feel TONS better!

Do you have anything magnetic/electrical sitting next to your monitor?
- bulletfactory0
possibly a speaker?
- Nairn0
yes, sort of - the rest of my computer equipment/other LCD.
But no, the problem's definitely in the units - I've tried them all over the house, in every plausible configuration.
Having finally snapped, I've looked around a few reviews today and it is a noted problem with some units. just wish I'd seen these reviews beforehand.
Maybe it's just the British- made ones, which wouldn't be a surprise at all...

yeah it was £260 + £25 shippin when the uk list price was £580. i got it brand new from a usa ebay shop.
Yours is bleeding bad, bleedin nuisance when you get that.
Before I got mine i read up that dell use the same screen manufacturers as sony but make one improvement over sony. i found out on a forum somewhere.

yeah, I was after the blooming thing because Dell build their widescreens with the same tech Apple do, but with a matt-black bezel in place of that bloody bright aloominum.
Pah.
