Anyone here own or are planning on buying a place in NYC or Brooklyn?
Looking to see if it's a good or bad time to buy..

Be really careful. My ex's brother was trying to buy 2 places (same bldg.) near Pratt, and he got dicked around for over 6 mnths. He ended up having to get a lawyer, and never did get the places.
NYC real estate laws seem screwed.
Total Mess.

try calling a real estate broker?

I bought in 1999, the values have in general more than doubled since then, nothing surprising.
The best time to buy, especially in NYC is as soon as possible. Property values increase faster than people can save. Real estate is about the best thing you can invest in.

what area in williamsburg? my wife and i are looking to buy soon as well...as a new yorker though i wouldnt goto williamsburg. not enough subways. but CybrainX is very correct. but today...whenever today is for you. its going to be expensive either way, 10 years ago or today, the property value will definitely increase...if you have a car then maybe williamsburg is a good place to invest with it. you should sell after a few years and get something better and bigger or get 2 units. use 1 to finance the other.
good luck!

It's right by the L train at the Bedford stop so it's only 1 stop away from Manhattan. I kinda like it more out in Brooklyn anyways - better music, food, bars, etc.
Where you guys looking ePill?

in the back of my head i see the old L trains that would break down every other minute making anyone stranded as cabs would be all taken...and i wasnt walking across the bridge!!!
but now there is the new L-train with roomier spaces...i had forgotten this...i used to live Lorimer and metropolitan. also Devoe btwn Humbolt and Grrahme or however you spell it...you'll like it!!!
