So, I was all happy ready to get my new MacBook Pro... for whenever they start shiping, and a friend of mine told me it was a wrong move, since all my programs won't run well with this ne chip.
I have all my adobe and macromedia software and it seems they won't be updating them to run on the new Macs for a goooood while....
fuck, what shopuld I do?

shoulda done your research ;-)
it'll be a while before adobe/MM makes the universal binary app switch.. maybe not till Q4 or 2006. if you have to get a mac, try to get a deal on an AL powerbook while people are ditching them for their macbook pro's

you should definitly wait for the revision. all new product from mac have bugs and since this is something totaly new i strongly suggest you wait for the revision.
after waiting for it for 1 and a half year i will still wait for that revision.

What i would do is try to find a apple store that has a Intel Mac. Even if it is a iMac. and see for your self.
Some people would say they run like crap, but dont tell you that they are comparing it to a Quad G5 with 8Gb of ram.
Adobe has said that current Products (CS2 / Studio 8) will not be Universal. the next versions will be
http://blogs.adobe.com/jnack/200…If you want a laptop the macbook may be your best choice. But there is the inevitable First Model bugs in any product (not just apple's)
I would just do some more research, test drive one. even if that means waiting. Wait until more people have one and have better reviews.
good luck

Just get a Dell... I see so many lame posts about PCs crapping out. I've owned 4 in the past 6 years and i've never had one crash on me ONCE. I have a new powerbook ... I've had to take it to get serviced already after 6 months... its crap. I don't see what the deal is with you mac heads. PCs rule. Maybe not in video production, but everything else, PCs are king. My PC at work runs circles around the Dual G5's with 4 GBs of ram that some of the other designers are now using (fresh out the box).
Beelee dat.
