here is the dilemma.
i was pretty sure that if you had alt tags on headers or whatever, that they would be searchable through google or whatever for search engine optimization. is this true? half true? not even close to being true?
enlighten me.

use alt and title tages on ALL images - and title tags on all links

so yeah they can be searched via google?
- jevad0
search engines can crawl them yes...

use alt tags on all images and title tags on all links (to describe the link and its value)
I've read its bad to duplicate the alt content for title content on images so I have never done this on our sites. What I have read suggests it will be picked up as keyword stuffing but maybe jevad's tried it???
title tags on img gets a hint if FF and alt tag on img gets hint in IE -> FYI

...................................that's not why you duplicate them. alt tags are for accessibility in any browser, title tags are just that -> titles

I understood that title tags were in fact the correct markup for images not alt tags. The alt tag is used if an image doesn't display for whatever reason, not to display a "tooltip" when you hover over it.
You'll get more value SEO wise from giving your pages meaningful titles than using alt / title tags.
