Some truths about Gil. He's currently out and about in New York, much better than he has been in a number of years. Yes, he's had some well-publicised problems which led to a couple of jail terms, but there was (in his own words) never an I in Scott-Heron. Make of that what you will.
I was lucky enough to meet him many times, hang out with him in New York and London, and have been to more GSH gigs than anyone should be allowed to. The man is a living legend, troubled as we all are by demons (and record companies) but I've got to say one of the most inspiring people I have ever met. I'd love to know what you all make of the promo, I'm very proud of it.
This is what his publisher wrote on his last jail term, in 2001.

was produced using original footage of gil back in the day, mixed with stock photography and of course the original track. had gil's full blessing as well which meant a lot.
sadly never saw the light of day because of (of all things) bandwidth restraints by the client. one day soon, though, we'll get it out there...

Bonseff, Im not sure of any people that do similar music nowadays, I think commercialism is something that killed that vibe. All you got now is Kanye West ;)
