here's a pdf document with a bunch of documents for freelance: http://d24.yousendit.com/F/2XMOK…
i can't remember where i got it from. anyway, there's a standard agreement doc in there which lets you lay out the project in stages. i like this, most of my clients do too. for smaller projects i just bill 50/50.
some more usefull resources here:

I never wore mine.

I broke mine once and had to put it together with some hollow metal tubes, like a joint to connect the wire that had seperated.
I was so afraid my dad would realize it was broken and get pissed - he always asked if I was wearing it when I went to bed, and I remember he'd ask me in the morning if I wore my retainer.

Hey foreign, thanks for the PDF. I already have a bunch of docs setup but its good to just have others for comparison or additions, etc. Thanks!

Yeah I had some fuuuugged up teeth as a kid. I have this unique problem where my back teeth don't touch when I bite down. Twice I had to have those retainers that are glued into your mouth. They're actually called "expanders" cuz you're supposed to crank it wider every day using this mini key. Its supposed to widen your jaw or something. I also had braces and about 3 or 4 sets of regular retainers. Once I hit highschool the orthodontist was like, fuck it your teeth are screwed.
My bite may be messed up, but at least my teeth look straight. I still have dreams about the retainers though.

it's a shame onbody really took this thread seriously, OK, maybe one or two peeps... but good teeth are important.
kidding.
contracts are so vital. for both parties. and getting on a retainer with a client is (IMHO) damn near impossible.
If people have samples or ideas on how they structure a monthly retianer fee for service, I'd love to know as well.
Buck toof fools.
