This is some shit:

You now have to change your resume to exactly match the qulifications a potential employer might be looking for.
And the wording for expressing interest looks damn tricky.

- JazX0

- piperboytoy0
yeah my friend works in HR and she said they usually scan for key words then they pick the right person for the job. Even for designers. But that only applies for corporate offices.

they can f*cking bite a d*ck
- tkmeister0
so basically more work for us to apply online.
lame. fuck that!

It also means the companies have to do more work to check out references.

I don't think its a huge deal. I also don't think that it will make a lick of difference in the diversity at a particular company. I do think that it creates more work for everyone on both sides just so that some white rich politicians and CEOs can feel better about themselves at the end of the day.
I've been on the inside of the hiring process and we had over 500 applicants in 3 days. 99% of them had HORRIBLE resumes and cover letters. They were horrible based more on the content and lack of detail/attention paid to them then how the bad or good the layout was.
This new law just means that you're gonna have to pay more attention to your resume.
Also, it really only does apply to federal jobs and private/public companies that employ 50 or more people. Most design studios and even most agencies don't break over the 50 person line. I don't think this affects us designers that much. Then again, I do work in a corporate setting right now at one of the largest companies in the world.

Who's to say that most NT'ers are all designers and work for companies with less than 50 employees.
There are plenty of backend people here and those that work for large companies.
Either way, they can take their diversity standards and shove them up their @sses!

Like I said Jaz.....I, myself, do in-house design for one of the largest companies in the world.

Shouldn't this have been affect in the first place?
WTF is this about "expressing interest" in working at a place? Isn't that the whole point of APPLYING?
