I'm doing volunteer work for a group that's organizing a travelling quiz for children. As part of the quiz the kids have to fill out a form on a computer where they send a letter to the prime minister. Whatever the kids fill in, it has to be saved on that computer. No internet-connection available + they only have a PowerMac G3, Mac OS 9.1 available to take with them on tour.
I was thinking of making a little Flash-site running localy full screen that somehow writes a little txt-file per submitted letter. Will I need to update the OS for that, or doesn't that Macintosh Projector-file care about the OS-version?
Anyone have experience or advice for me on this? I don't know databases or scripting. Flash, HTML and CSS is what i know best. Thanks.

up to flash player 7 should be fine.

if its got decent RAM sneak in some cds and get OS X installed on it.. i worked on a 300mhz B&W G3 all the way through 10.3.9
the final updates of Panther are really solid on G3s.

256 MB Ram, 333 Mhz. It is an early beige G3, was used mainly as server. Has 3 hard-disks (9, 5, 5gb).
Have just tried to run a Flash Projector on it but got an error (OTClientUtilLib' could not be found) but thats because i had to start up without extensions (i think).
Horton: did you had a lot of problems with the Mac OS X installation? Could get my hands some installation CD's if necassary. Just hesitating of all that trouble would be worth it...

maybe you should be looking at hypercard for that quiz. =P
your best bet is probably html talking to some sort of mac database like filemaker pro or MS Access (if available).

tank: if you want to know more:
http://www.tapisplein.be/un-touc…monNom: just read about HyperCard on Wiki. Interesting. Would use SuperCard as it needs some color (its for kids). Why the =P?

if youre installing 10.3 be sure that the firmware is updated before you install- there are several versions depending on which iMac.
