Is it hard/expensive to legally change your name in the States, what are the steps, anybody here with name change experience?

A petition for change of name.
An order granting change of name.
A legal backer form.
A notice of petition to the public, meaning an advertisement in a local newspaper.
An affidavit of consent by a parent/wife/husband, if applicable.
An affidavit of service of notification to authorities, necessary if you are an alien, ex-convict or attorney.

depends on state for sure. if you're from another country, there are city, county, state politics just the same as the feds that you need to deal with.

Thanks but where should I begin, Ive seen those overthenet name change packages that sell for like 40 bucks, is it legal or they just send you a paper with your new name saying Congrats, you are now known as Gaylord Focker, take care! Where should i go to begin the process?

One more, I have to citizenships, I'm American and Latvian, is it possible to change my name only in the USofA and leave my birth name in Latvia?
