I just received a parcell from the states to Toronto. Value of item $25 dollars. UPS shipping Fee $16. But here is the best part how about a $ 121 dollar brokerage fee for taking the parcell over the border!!! Are they out of their F-ing minds. I refuse to pay it so they are now holding my parcell as randsom. What bastards. Please never use UPS when shipping anything to Canada, they charge you more than the value of the item just to ship it. They stink and so does their customer service!

Same thing happened to me and BF!! he ordered a shuffle from Ebay for my nephew, and we should've pay 100$ w/everything included and when it arrived, UPS charged 60$ (cnd) for customs!!
The week before we had ordered one and the guy sent it tru US postal and we didn't have to pay anything extra.
fck UPS

well they are looking into it, but I nearly droped a "brown" load in my pants when he said $121. I said oh you mean 21 and he restated 121. Its gotta be wrong your right

and oh ya, one I was younger I stayed in the State for a year, when it was time to go home I called upon them to ship my stuff before I flew to Canada. I have 9 boxes it was gonna cost over 1000$.
I told the guy that he made a mistake in my zip code, I told him like 3000 time but he kept saying that UPS would look at the adress I wrote on my boxes and not his.
What a fckng liar!! 3 months laters (instead of a few days) they found my stuff in Vancouver!! (I live in Qc city WAAY across the country you know!)
after a year away I had nothing left at home like clothing, or at least not to last for 3 months. I had to buy everything!
I didn't pay for the shipping, but 10 years after I still don't trust them

if it's an important package:
rule of thumb is stay clear away from UPS.Just a couple of weeks ago the driver couldn't find my studio and i desperately needed the package so I could get on a plane – or I'd lose a big client.
(the phone number is clearly printed on the box - and a phone equipped in the truck)
He phoned after head office called to ask where he was. It was his fourth attempt at finding the place.

That's absolutely ridiculous.
Your story has actually made me fear my last Amazon purchase, since I believe my package will be shipping from the US to Canada, and I'm thinking they use UPS (not 100% sure).
Anyways, after reading some other irate opinions about their Canadian delivery service from the US, I'd say they have to work on this situation. Here's an interesting eOpinion.

Like the user in the link, you could try negotiating the fee.

i've found the best way to remedy this problem is to avoid all contact with canadians.

UPS does suck. My package ended up in Vancouver (WTF), and it took an extra week to get here. Thankfully, they called me up about the issue and then the guy who worked there said he could waive my brokerage fees if I just made up something about owning a company. I obviously did this since UPS charges more than anyone else (even more than USPS!) for shipment to Canada.
It has been "delivered" today to my front door, but I don't understand how. I guess they left it there even though it requires my signature? No one is home right now. People better not steal my package. It's usually cool in my neighbourhood (and the snow banks are so high that it's difficult to see the front doors of houses anyway).

I ordered a book off of amazon, and it was shipped by UPS. It was clearly labeled "DO NOT BEND" and they bent it and shoved it in my mailbox. It was sitting there all day in the middle of summer, so by the time I got it, it was completely warped and the glue on the binding began to run into the pages.
bastards.

DHL is the worst in my opinion.
Worst tracking system, even more terrible actual system. They sent a package past my house to come back here and now have dropped it off with the post office, which makes NO sense.
- Jaline0
That always happens. They will try once or twice and then drop it off at the post office. Which is fine with me, because then I can pick it up whenever I am free (although the office isn't that far away) and my package will be safe. I haven't had many DHL packages delivered here.

Haha.. I'm just having a bad UPS experience right now, they failed to deliver a camera I sold on eBay, The guy waited for the whole Friday, nobody called in nor made a phone call, my guess is the underpaid courier wanted his weekend to begin earlier. This morning they needed a kick in the ass to go there again.

The other day I received a package that required a signature and ended up finding it in my patio.
I'm not sure if it was good that I didn't have to go out of my way to pick it up, or bad that I had a UPS guy tramping through my backyard...
- I thought this was pretty standard in the USrafalski
- I don't mind if they left it at the back door more often. I don't trust it in the front all the time.Jaline
- I prefer the back be reserved for stray cats only.moural
- Maybe it's because I live in front of a forest, so it's pretty clean back there (except for the mud and snow, etc.)Jaline

yeah UPS sucks!! I had a horrible overnight experience with them that ended up taking 5 days! You pay for overnight and they get it there in 5, wheres the common sense in that?

Another thing I hate with different delivery services is how they don't even ring the doorbell sometimes. One time I ended up waiting by the door for hours (watching some TV while checking the door and eating my lunch) and after about 2pm I checked the door to make sure and there was a notice, waiting for me. I read it, and it said taht I had to go to the post office and pick it up. He even ticked off that he had tried to ring the doorbell.
