From me:
"I left an extra 5 spot on the nightstand by the way, great type"

On her behalf,
"Have you seen me?"

_salisae_ thanks!
the AIGA annual she did was a bit controversial, due to the cropped images. I thought it was great, and she designed how she wanted to. Just my opinion.

"wharf hooker"?
funny shit.
- TheDeadandGone0
that 365 she did was a bit too designerly for my tastes, it seemed more a vehicle for her aestheric than a show of the best printed material for that year.

Hi jennifer, take your time.
"no one here but us chickens"
- Rand0
she did seem to disappear after the AIGA debacle. I once went to a lecture she was supposed to give. She didn't show up. Her business manager did.

andre, just saw your partner's name on the sputnik show postcard. Guess you already knew about it.
cheers

didn't a lot of designers lay into her for the AIGA book she designed? heard it got mixed reviews.
- Rand0
me and a buddy installed 2 way mirroes at her house in encino. she came to the door in a dress.

Andre, Jennifer was actually CD at Tolleson, so a lot of the work in soakwashrinsespin was done with her at the helm. Look towards the back, a lot of it is classic Sterling.
She is super hard to find, or get hold of, and from the people I work with currently teaching at the Academy of Art.
I had Jennifer for two classes (Type 3 and Thesis) and we got along great and learned an amazing amount. From what I know, she has had health issues and may be holding back on the work.

its too bad she went howard hughes on us, that would have a been a nice book.

i'm glad we're all straight in our confusion

you know, sterling has nothing to do with tolleson . . . they are both from SF and have a similar style.
this is the book that never got published: http://www.gingkopress.com/_cata…

"If there was ever such a thing as the neutral page, graphic designer Jennifer Sterling has killed it. She has exploded it, leaving only shards of type. She has buried it under the crosshatches and lines that remain of what were once thought of as regulating lines. Instead of the blank white field, she gives us an elastic plane of potential scale and meanings."
